Hello all I just wanted to share a little bit of background information on one of my favorite gospel artist, Kirk Franklin.
Kirk Franklin was born in Dallas, TX. He was credited for the most talked about leaders of the Urban Contemporary Gospel genre with his groups The Family, God's Property and One Nation Crew. Franklin's was raised by his aunt who started sending him to piano lessons when he was four years old. At age seven, he learned to read and write music by ear and was offered his very first music contract by age seven. His aunt did not let him accept it, but he began to direct choirs throughout his teens. He was accepted into a music conservatory school but started to get caught up with the wrong crowd, which caused him to also abandon church. After the death of a friend, he returned to church and his music career took off from there. He formed more choirs, produced and did the music scoring for some films. His most popular song is "Stomp".
